Hello All!

Welcome to PLAY!'s website! A thousand thanks for visiting and we truly appreciate you coming to check out our website!

The title surely caught your attention eh. As a matter of fact, P.L.A.Y. stands for Put Laoren Above Yourself (laoren = elderly in chinese, by the way!) mainly because we are serving the elderlies in our community through Play Therapy. Our main objective is to test whether play therapy can in fact improve the quality of lives of these elderly who have to stay in a nursing home due to their medical conditions.

Who Are We?

What is Play Therapy?

We have redefined and adjusted this therapy to better suit the needs of our target group. Our play therapy features drama, art, music and any other forms of play. Activities that we conduct include acting, finger puppets, origami, drawing & colouring, beading, singing and board games. So far, we have had 4 sessions of approximately 2 hours each with the elderly and have conducted activites such as sing-along sessions, name designing and colouring! So far, they have enjoyed our activities and look forward to the next time we come!

Who are we serving?

Currently we are working together with Renci Hospital and Medicare, specifically Ms Xie Xiao Yun. We are serving a Female Nursing Ward of about 30 patients at Moulmein of all races and varying backgrounds. We have chosen to focus on one ward because it was easier to monitor and measure the level of effectiveness our Play Therapy towards them. As for why we chose to only serve female patients is due to safety reasons as well as the fact that our activities would appeal more to the female patients than they would towards the male patients, as advised by Ms Xie.

If you would like to join us or help us continue this project when we leave RGS (calling out to sec3'10) or if you would like to know more, please feel free to drop our group leader, Rachel Gan, an email at rachelg1993@hotmail.com (:

Thank You!
